Our flying site
We have an excellent flying field in the middle of farmland and enjoy a flat and level grass airstrip with easy landing approaches and not too many surrounding trees. Models can be unloaded directly into the pits area and there is ample on site parking away from the flight line. Grass reinforcement in the car park areas facilitates all year round use. We have our own mower and the grass strip is regularly maintained throughout the grass growing season for easy take offs and landings.

Conveniently located close to the M1 within easy reach of St Albans, Redbourn, Harpenden, Markyate and surrounding areas
The location of our flying field is shown below. We are happy to arrange to meet you and show you around the site prior to joining. The entrance is secured by a locked gate so is not accessible to the general public.
Slope Soaring
Many of our members enjoy slope soaring. Ivanhoe Beacon is within each reach and there are occasional longer trips to White Sheet, Oliver’s Castle or Butser Hill.

Indoor flying
During the winter we have monthly indoor flying sessions at a school sports hall in Harpenden. These are free for members. A wide variety of models are flown including various indoor RC planes, free flight models, micro helicopters, drones, shockies as well as hovercraft and air ‘skidders’. Timed sessions separate different model types to avoid some of the carnage.
