About Us

Established in 1910, St Albans Model Aero Club is probably the longest established aero modelling Club in the UK.
It is the oldest club known to the BMFA (SMAE) to which we first affiliated in 1947.
Our main activities are flying R/C for fun, sport and scale aircraft, and help with training novice members up to “A” test level, which is a club requirement to fly solo at our site.
Other active R/C areas include glider slope soaring, bungee and electric-launched gliding, electric flight in general which includes, helicopters, edf jets, smaller models and vintage aircraft. In addition, there is a free-flight and indoor flying program during the winter months at a local sports hall.
Turbine powered jets and free-flight models are NOT allowed to fly outdoors at our site.
Our outdoor flying site is within easy reach of St Albans, Redbourn, Harpenden, Markyate and surrounding areas.
